Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Stephanie Newman, and I am originally from Pensacola, Florida.

I am 21 years old and a recent graduate from the University of Florida. I graduated with a bachelor of science degree in journalism. My concentration of focus was in editing for online multimedia platforms.

WHAT I'VE DONE

As an undergrad, I was a contributing writer for "The Independent Florida Alligator," a student-run newspaper in Gainesville, Florida. I wrote for both their blog and paper between 2013 and 2014.

In 2015, I interned with SocialNewsDesk. During this time, I learned how to create social media applications for news media outlets.

WHAT I DO

Based on my educational and professional experience, I am most skilled in editing for online media platforms.

I am interested in procuring a position either as a copy editor or a multimedia editor. I am comfortable editing for both online and print media.

Most of my experience is in editing text and audio, but I also have education in editing digital content for online media platforms.

Citrus Greening

"New Funds Help UF/IFAS Fight Citrus Greening In Central Florida" was an article I wrote for WUFT as part of JOU4201. The article dicussed a university grant for research on citrus greening.

Fourth of July

"High Dive celebrates the Fourth of July with live music and BBQ" was published in the Alligator July 2, 2014. The article was about an upcoming July 4 celebration.

MiXOXO

"MiXOXO adds to the dating app mix" is an article published June 19, 2014 with by the Alligator. This piece was about a dating and networking app extending its market to the Gainesville area.

Improv Festival

Published Jan 27, 2014, "Gainesville Improv Festival returns for ninth year," is an article I wrote as contributing writer for the Alligator. The article focused on an annual improv theater festival.

BJ's Brewhouse

"BJ's is chain restaurant with a personal touch" was a weekly installation on my food blog. For this review, I focused on a franchised restaurant to appeal to an audience who prefers familiar cuisine.

Manuel's

I wrote this review on "Manuel’s Vintage Room offers an intimate Italian" and published it July 22, 2013. This review focused on a more intimate eatery than usual to add balance to my blog.

A taste of Cuba

When I found out there was a niche market for Cuban style food in Gainesville, I decided to write a review of the popular restaurant Mi Apa. Alligator Blogs published this piece July 1, 2013.

Hogan's Heroes

"The greatest sandwiches in Gainesville" was published to Alligator Blogs on June 17. This review highlighted a local sandwich shop named after an old television show.

Flying Biscuit

Published on June 10, 2013, this was another weekly restaurant review for the Alligator Food blog. I reviewed the Flying Biscuit Cafe, a local breakfast and brunch restaurant in Gainesville.

Leonardos 706

This was a review I wrote for the Alligator blogs about a local Italian restaurant. It was published on June 4, 2013. The review was part of a weekly food blog I ran mostly pertaining to local restaurants.

Tasting the Jamaican heat

Posted on May 28, 2013, "Tasting the Jamaican heat at Reggae Shack," was an Alligator blog entry about a local Jamaican restaurant inspired by another student's blog entry.
